Religious Education of Children & Teens The Church recognizes that we have but one teacher, Jesus Christ. Together, with the parents and the help of the Holy Spirit, the School of Religion endeavors to instruct children in the scriptures and traditions of the Church in order that they may become faithful and fruitful disciples of Jesus. The School of Religion is devoted to proclaiming the Christian message and promoting knowledge of the faith; preparing children for prayer and worship; cultivating moral formation; encourage Christian living and service and instilling a sense of community and a communal understanding of Church. Sessions are scheduled on Sundays from September through April, 11:00a.m - 12:15p.m for Pre-K - Grade 5 and 11:00a.m - 12:15p.m for Grades 6 - 8.
Liturgical Celebrations In addition to the Sunday sessions, our programs include:
  • Blessing of Catechists for Catechetical Sunday - September
  • Closing Mass and Ice Cream Sundae Party - April
  • Individual Mass Attendance - throughout the year
Service Opportunities Throughout the year - Numerous service projects are offered in both the Elementary and Middle School programs.  Please visit the Childrens' Ministry site and the Youth Ministry site for more information.
Family Activities
  • Easter Egg Hunt - Each year, on the day before Easter, we celebrate with an Easter Egg Hunt for all children under that age of 10.
  • Advent Family Day - We make Advent wreaths from fresh-cut greens, angels, Christmas tags and all kinds of crafts to be used at home during Advent.
  • Christmas Program - Each year, our students present a Christmas program to present the true meaning of Christmas.
Parent Involvement
  • Catechists & Substitute Catechists - Wonderful adults who offer our children the privilege of learning about God and the Catholic religion. (See Ministries of Christian Education and Formation for more about this position).
  • Family Faith Time/Things to Do at Home/Reach Out - Our religion series presents opportunities for parents to be more involved in what their children are learning by using these segments at the end of each chapter.
