PREPARATION FOR BAPTISM
Through baptism, our sins are forgiven, we receive the dignity of adopted children of God and are incorporated into the Body of Christ. This incorporation is our initiation into the Church.
Parents need to plan on attending one preparation session prior to the baptism. It is a good idea to consider taking this session by the fifth month of pregnancy. At least one of the Godparents need to be at least 16 years old, confirmed and a practicing Catholic.
Children who have reached the age of reason (7 years of age or older)
Preparation for baptism along with confirmation and Eucharist occurs through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults adapted for Children (RCIC). This begins each October and concludes with the Easter Vigil.
