July 10 – July 14, 2017

Our SPXtreme Service Camp is a one week opportunity for those entering 6th grade through those who have just finished 8th grade to engage a service and social projects.  Each day we do Service activities with local organizations and then in the afternoon we spend time having fun!

Previous year’s camps  have included working with Lunches for the Homeless, Parks and People, First Fruits Farm, and Jenkins Senior Citizens Community.  For the afternoon social activities we bowled, painted pottery, went to Cascade Lake and SkyZone.  Each year we end our camp with a Day at Hershey Park!

As always there is a great group of people who make SPXtreme happen and we are thrilled that Mrs. Erin Barresi, an awesome teacher at SPX School and Deacon Patrick Woods, both veterans of SPXtreme, have again agreed to join us for this year’s program! We will have a super group of high school young people to assist the team as peer ministers!

Our co-directors for SPXtreme this year are Susan M. Yost, our Pastoral Associate of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry and Wayne Hipley from St. Agnes/St. William of York. Susan and Wayne have about 16 years of facilitating a program very similar to SPXtreme known as SummerStretch. We are very excited to join the team here at the Community of St. Mary’s and St. Pius X.
