The book club of St. Pius X is an informal group of parishioners who gather to discuss books suggested by book club members. Selected books have represented a wide range of subjects and styles of writing including autobiographies, historical novels, best selling fiction, economics, religion, mysteries, and literature classics. The lively discussion and fellowship with other parishioners takes place in the homes of members who volunteer to host meetings. The book club meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm. New readers are always welcome. Please call Laura Ford: 410.532.7007,

Pastoral Care
Members of the Pastoral Care Ministry offer support to those who are physically sick, emotionally broken, or spiritually troubled. The Pastoral Care ministers visit those confined to hospitals, nursing homes, or their own home. They also bring the Eucharist to shut-ins.
What does it take to be a Pastoral Care Minister? Being a good listener, being compassionate and empathetic are very important characteristics of those interested in this ministry. Specific guidelines are presented in a course for Pastoral Visitors, which is offered through St. Joseph’s Hospital one each year.
What kind of time commitment is required? In addition to eight-session training course, we ask that these ministers devote 2 to 3 hours per week to visits. Meetings of Pastoral Care Ministers are also held periodically, to offer support and ongoing education. One should commit to at least one year of service, with two years being ideal. Call the Parish Office at 410-427-7500.
Prayer Requests
The purpose of this ministry is to provide prayerful, spiritual support for those in need of prayers, through our homebound parishioners and those who have extra time to pray. Our prayer ministers pray in their homes for the intentions placed on our parish prayer tree, located in the upper Church. Each month, members of this ministry are sent new intentions, and they may pray for these intentions in whatever manner they choose. Each minister is provided with a prayer booklet to use if they wish. Call Mary Angela Brown at 410-427-7500 for additional information.
Rosary Group
We pray the rosary for peace, for the needs of our families and our parish, and to feel closer to Mary and to one another. Call Lupe at 410-337-5260.
